3/14/2019 0 Comments Drowning in the Five of CupsRecently, my #cotd was the Five of CupsI had woken up in a bad mood leftover from the night before, so seeing this didn't help any. I thought about this card alllll day while at work. And I pretty much came full circle with it.
Generally, the Five of Cups let's us know when we're holding onto something that needs to be let go. As a cups card, this usually refers to emotions. In this one, like loss or grief. It could more specifically refer to a situation where a relationship ended, loss of a loved one, missed chances, whatever it is that leaves you feeling emptier than you were before. This card isn't about the situation, whatever it is, in and of itself. This card is about the *feelings* that you've been left with. More importantly, it's about feelings that are over their due date, that need to be released, so you can get on with things. In my case, this card was highlighting my disappointment, and calling me out on my own tendency to hold onto negativity far longer than I should, while overlooking all of the things that are still going right. It's an easy trap to fall into, much more difficult to drag yourself out of. If you've just become interested in tarot & want to learn how to read for yourself, choosing your first deck can be an overwhelming step. There are so many different options and opinions for new tarot readers FOBO becomes a real issue, not to mention #decklust. Choosing Your First Tarot Deck Doesn't Have To Be Complicated. The truth is, there is no "perfect" tarot deck for beginners. It's such an individual experience, they're all never be a one size fits all deck. But that's why I love it! I have told the story about how I deliberated over my first tarot deck for weeks . I looked up every single tarot deck I could find with images online. I didn't realize there would be so many options or so much artwork. I found what I expected to, fairies, witches fantasy art.. but also some off the wall themes, like ferrets, Gummi bears, Silicon Valley, alcohol, even an Insane Clown Posse themed deck. So, there's something out there for everyone, and it took me forever to write myself a list of potentials. When I had my prospective first tarot deck list narrowed down to a more respectable number, I started shopping and reading reviews as well as comparing prices That right there eliminated a few. Some were out of my budget , a couple were out of print. Some I found out were majors only decks. My list got even smaller, until finally I chose the Paulina Tarot and ordered a deck that I still love to this day. But there are times I wish I hadn't made it so difficult for myself! I could easily have gone to Barnes and Noble to choose one of the decks in stock. I probably would have come home with the Mystic Fairie Tarot, but I'm sure I would have found Paulina sooner or later (although ironically, I've never owned the Mystic Fairie). Why did I stress myself out so much?! I was too sold on the idea of the perfect tarot deck. If you're struggling like I struggled, let me help you!
